Morphometric Evaluation of the Lacrimal Sac Fossa in Anatolian Population Using Multidetector Computed Tomography

Background: To investigate the morphometric characteristics of lacrimal sac fossa in Anatolian population using multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images surgical aspect.Materials and Methods: A total 77 cranial MDCT scans were evaluated. The dimensions maxillary bones forming measured 3 axial planes (up-per, middle, lower planes).Results: mean maximum thickness bone at upper, middle were: 3.58 mm, 4.27 5.81 mm; midpoint each plane 2.76 2.51 1.48 0.72 0.65 0.66 distance between anterior posterior crests 5.96 8.1 4.63 angle sagittal males females 132.73° 131.46°; length 15.82 mm 14.02 mm.Conclusions: In population, thicknesses higher ma-les, while was females. This study indicated that osteotomies, which are main target dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) inter-ventions, can be easily performed population.
